The PGA Tour returns to Quail Hollow for the Wells Fargo Championship, just a year removed from it being cancelled due to the Covid pandemic.
With the PGA Championship looming in a couple of weeks, some of the World’s best golfers such as Jon Rahm, Justin Thomas, Bryson DeChambeau and Rory McIlroy are competing.
Defending champion Max Homa is in the field as well, fresh off a 6th place finish at the Valspar Championship last week.
Quail Hollow is a Par-71 course that measures 7,251 yards and features Bermuda Grass putting greens.
This golf course puts an emphasis on distance while also setting up challenging second shots for players. With that in mind, a couple of stats to look for are SG: Approach and SG: Off the Tee.
Here are some golfers that I’m looking at this week in the betting market:
Bryson DeChambeau 14-1 to win, +300 Top 5, +135 Top 10:
DeChambeau not only has the game that fits this course, he has the game to run away on this course. With his ability to rip drives off the tee, he should set himself up in great position for his second shots. He finished fourth in his last start at Quail Hollow (in 2019 when he was much smaller). Lock in big boy Bryson to deliver big this week.
Max Homa +300 Top 10:
With form there fresh off a 6th place finish to accompany his track record at Quail Hollow, watch for Homa to once again be in the hunt on Sunday. Homa has 10 Top 25 finishes over his last 13 starts.
Tony Finau +110 Top 20:
Finau has made all four cuts at the Wells Fargo Championship and also has a game that fits this track. Fresh off a 10th place finish at The Masters Tournament should have him in a good spot this week.
Tyler McCumber +1000 Top 20 finish:
This is certainly a long shot but McCumber has been playing solid golf of late and his length off the tee suggests he could be a sneaky play in his debut at the Wells Fargo Championship. His last three finishes are 22, 33 and 18 so he is definitely a long shot to keep your eye on this week.
