Denver Nuggets vs. Philadelphia 76ers Betting Preview: Odds, Picks and Predictions

The new era in Denver has begun, and Aaron Gordon made a fine first appearance in a Nuggets uniform as Denver got a thorough win against the Atlanta Hawks two nights ago. Tonight, however, Denver faces a more stern test, from the top dogs in the East…. the Philadelphia 76ers. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. MST in the Mile High City.

  • Over is 5-0 in 76ers last five games as a road underdog
  • 76ers are 4-0 ATS in their last four games following an ATS loss
  • Over is 4-0 in Nuggets last four games following an ATS win
  • 76ers are 10-1 ATS in the last 11 meetings in Denver
  • 76ers are 15-4-2 ATS in the last 21 meetings

The breakdown:

Even without Joel Embiid, the 76ers have still managed to find a way to win. Forward Tobias Harris has stepped up in his absence and will be who Philly looks to help make up some of the missing buckets. This then leads to one of my props, with Tobias Harris scoring over 22.5 points in this matchup. Harris is fresh off of 29 points against the L.A. Clippers and will be eager to have a repeat performance and get the win. On the flip side, Mike Scott is not an adequate replacement to try and contain Nikola Jokic (although, who is in this league?). While Jokic will look to control the inside for Denver, look for Aaron Gordon to continue to find his feet and score over 13.5 points in this matchup. His importance in this game on both sides of the floor should be in the spotlight, 14 points should be a modest get for Gordon.

Ultimately, this should be a tight game, even without the 76ers’ star, but Jokic and his matchup should give Denver the edge in this one. The 76ers will have to rely heavily on their defense to secure the win against a very potent Denver offense. Look for Denver to edge this one out down the stretch with the help of defensive reinforcements from Gordon and JaVale McGee (hoping he gets minutes).
