After a stellar week at The Concession Golf Club capped off with Collin Morikawa’s fourth win as a pro, the PGA Tour moves to Bay Hill for the Arnold Palmer Invitational.
The field is made up of a majority of golfers outside the U.S., including defending champion Tyrell Hatton, who won this event last season with a score of 4-under-par. Last year’s tournament was impacted greatly by testing weather, with just four players completing their weekend with a score under par.
Marc Leishman, Sunjae Im, Bryson DeChambeau and Hatton were the four players under par in last year’s edition.
Bay Hill Golf Course is typically a challenging course for players, playing the toughest on tour last season. The course is a Par 72 measuring just under 7,500 yards and features Bermuda greens.
When looking at the course, important stats to consider when handicapping this tournament is SG: Tee to Green, which consists of off the tee, around the green and approach.
The Top 10 golfers in SG: Tee to Green are:
Of these 10, DeChambeau, Hovland, Zalatoris and Bradley are in the field this week. So those are certainly four names to keep an eye on.
SG:Putting is also a stat to look to at this tournament. Over the past 24 rounds on Bermuda and Lightning greens, Leishman, Sung Kang, Keith Mitchell, Tyrell Hatton and Sam Burns lead this field.
Favorite bets in the tournament:
Bryson DeChambeau -117 vs. Viktor Hovland: This is kind of fading the popular player as Hovland has been on an absolute tear of late with 2nd, 5th, 6th and 2nd. DeChambeau’s game fits this course perfectly, similar to Hovland. I do think Hovland takes a slight step back this week.
Sam Burns +4500, to win, +3300 first round leader, +188 to finish Top 20: Burns has a trio of Top 25 finishes over his last four starts, including a third place finish most recently at The Genesis Invitational. With his ability to drive the ball and finish on the greens with the flat stick, Burns is a good bet throughout this week in all markets.
Marc Leishman +200 to finish Top 20: Coming off of a 2nd place finish last year at this event Leishman is again a great bet at Bay Hill this week as his game checks boxes and his current form is solid with 4th, 18th, 32nd and 39th place finishes in his past four starts.
Luke List +225 to finish Top 30: List has ripped up Bay Hill with a T7, T10 and T17 finish in his three appearances. His strength off the tee is beneficial on this course. His recent form has been solid as well with a 21st and 10th place finish in two of his last four starts.
