Turkey Day 2020 Betting Guide

Happy Thanksgiving, everybody!

While COVID-19 may prevent this year’s festivities from feeling normal, there will still be football on the tube for sports bettors across the state to wager on!

Here at Denver Sports Betting, we are thankful for all of our loyal readers and to anybody who has interacted with our content, won our sweepstakes, or supported Denver Sports Betting. We are also very thankful to the state of Colorado for legalizing sports betting!

Now, let’s take a quick look at what’s on tap for Thanksgiving football 2020.

Houston Texans @ Detroit Lions:

This game get’s going at 10:30 in the morning, so get your coffee ready. Despite being the home team, the Lions are the +3 betting underdog, following their latest loss to the Carolina Panthers, where they failed to score a single point.

The Texans head to Detroit with some momentum after upsetting the New England Patriots at home in Week 11.

The total for this game is set at 51. As of this morning, the public is backing the Texans against the spread, with 60% of bets heading in that direction. The public is also backing the over.

Let’s take a look at some betting trends and info via Covers.com:

  • Over is 5-0 in Texans last 5 games after accumulating less than 90 yards rushing in their previous game
  • Texans are 0-2-2 ATS in their last 4 games as a road favorite
  • Under is 6-1 in Texans’ last 7 games in Week 12
  • Over is 5-0 in Lions last 5 games on fieldturf
  • Over is 6-0 in Lions last 6 home games vs. a team with a losing road record
  • Lions are 0-11 ATS in their last 11 games after allowing more than 250 yards passing in their previous game

Washington Football Team @ Dallas Cowboys:

This is a battle for first place in the NFC East! After a solid performance last week versus the Minnesota Vikings, the Cowboys will look to stay hot against the WFT.

Washington destroyed Dallas back in Week 7, 25-3, and have won just one game since, that being last week versus the Cinncinati Bengals.

Both of these teams have struggled in their own right; however, there are also some bright spots on both teams. The Washington pass rush is elite, led by rookie Chase Young. The Cowboys wide receiver corps is the deepest in the league and has been trouble for opposing secondaries all season.

The Cowboys are the -3 betting favorite for this one, and the point total is set at 46.

The public is slightly backing the Cowboys (57% ATS) and the over (59%). This game is set to get going at 2:30p MST.

Let’s take a look at some betting trends and info via Covers.com:

  • Over is 5-0 in the last 5 meetings in Dallas
  • Home team is 5-1 ATS in their last 6 meetings
  • Over is 8-2 in the last 10 meetings
