For fans of Pac-12 football, the term better late than never rings especially true in the present day. Here we are, set to start the University of Colorado Buffaloes football season during the first week of November.
There will be no fans inside of Folsom Field when the Buffaloes take on the UCLA Bruins, but there will be football in Boulder this fall nonetheless.
The Buffs and Bruins will play the first of six scheduled games this season Saturday, with kick-off set for 5 p.m. MST.
The Bruins come to town as the -6 favorite against the spread, and the game total is set at 56 for the contest.
This will be the first look at new Colorado head coach Karl Dorrell, who was hired somewhat suddenly after Mel Tucker bolted for Michigan State last year.
The Buffs also have a new quarterback in Sam Noyer. Noyer takes over for long time starter Steven Montez and will be thrown into the fire after limited practice and preparation time due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Ben Cary of CapWize.com provided his opinion on the game:
I believe Sam Noyer struggles to make plays in his first start tonight for the Buffs. Dorian Thompson-Robinson for the Bruins is a dual-threat guy, and his running game will keep this clock ticking, which will be good for the under. The strength of the Buff’s defense is their linebacking core and front 7. They should be able to get vital third-down stops lead by Mustafa Johnson and Nate Landman on defense.
Thompson-Robinson and the spread look will start to slow down in the second half considering the high altitude of Boulder, and also it being the first game of the year. Hopefully, the tackling by both teams doesn’t struggle and doesn’t lead to additional points. I have this game as a 27-21 UCLA win and go with the under of 56 here.
