House Money: Nuggets have nothing to lose in Game 7

Hopefully, your heart palpitations have stopped after an amazing comeback in Game 6. If not, you may want to avoid Game 7. The cardiac kids have done it again, forcing a Game 7 for the second straight series.

Game 7 between the Denver Nuggets and Los Angeles Clippers is tonight, and the winner will go on to play the Los Angeles Lakers.

The inability to put Denver away while up 3 games to 1 has to be gnawing at Doc Rivers and company. Denver goes into tonight with zero pressure on them. Borrowed time, house money, whatever you want to call it, Denver knows how to; and better yet, knows how to win in these types of games.

Game 7s are always slower-paced defense-oriented types of games. Historically, the most logical play from a gambling perspective is the Under on the game total.

This series has been unpredictable, and besides considering the Under, the strongest consideration for wagers might just be during live action. The series has come down to large runs by both teams during the late 3rd quarter. Consider saving your Bets until live-action, and catch a more favorable line while one team is on a hot streak.

According to our friends at BetRivers, the Nuggets are  +7.5 underdogs with a 207.5 Over/Under total. The Nuggets are +265 on the Moneyline, meaning a $10 bet would payout $26.50 if the Nuggets win.

Let’s check out some data and look for ways to profit while enjoying Game 7.

Numbers to remember for Nuggets Clippers Game 7:

  • The Under game total is 5-0-1 in this series
  • The Under is 3-0 in all game 7s played so far in the bubble
  • Nuggets are 5-0 in elimination games during the bubble
  • The Clippers are 1-9 ATS in series-clinching games under Doc Rivers
  • Nikola Jokic in Game 7s has averaged 27.8 pts, 10.4 reb, 5.8 ast and shoots 54% from 3

Wagers to consider:

  • Game Total Under 207.5
  • Nuggets +7.5 @-109
  • Wait for live-action and play a more favorable line based on how the game is going
  • Jokic Over 24.5 points scored
  • Gary Harris Over 9.5 Points scored
  • Gary Harris Over 1.5 3s made

Expectations for the game:

As it’s been discussed, Game 7s are low scoring matchups. Expect a slow, sometimes sloppy, and methodical game at the end. Denver has given us no signs that we should doubt their fight. Denver has owned Game 7s, and right now, they look like the more comfortable team.

Expect this to be a back and forth game through three quarters, each team will make runs and look dominant in stretches. Expect this game to be decided by missed wide-open shots and second-chance points. In order for the Clippers to win, they’ll need both closers to take over in crunch time. In order for Denver to win, they’ll need quality games from Jokic and Murray, Harris and MPJ will have to be scoring threats as well.

It’s been an exciting and fun series to watch. Win or lose, Denver has gained from this experience and will be a better team because of it. Good Luck and enjoy the game.
