The Denver Nuggets have arrived, and the NBA is finally aware. With a second consecutive Game 7 series victory, the Nuggets punched their ticket to the Western Conference Finals. Coming off what could be considered the biggest win in franchise history, the Nuggets will look to parlay their momentum against the Los Angeles Lakers.
Future betting is an excellent way to take advantage of the current situation the Nuggets are in. Right now, Denver has the confidence and momentum to beat anyone, at any time, in any place. So let’s examine some angles to find a way to capitalize while enjoying what we hope turns into an NBA Finals run for the Nuggets.
Our friends at BetRivers have the Nuggets @ +400 underdogs to win the series against the Lakers. To throw some perspective out there, the Nuggets were +610 underdogs in the matchup against the Clippers. Additionally, the Nuggets are the +900 longshot to win the NBA Finals.

Feel a little more aggressive? Try and predict the series winner
- Nuggets win 4 -0 @ +7500 – Lakers win 4-0 @ +260
- Nuggets win 4-1 @ +3100 – Lakers Win 4-1 @ +210
- Nuggets win 4-2 @ +1900 – Laker Win 4-2 @ +310
- Nuggets win 4-3 @+1300 – Lakers Win 4-3 @ +600
Reflecting on the numbers above, you can see that the Nuggets are not receiving the respect they have earned. It’s clear that the oddsmakers are thinking this series will end in 5 or 6 games. So perhaps we should consider the Nuggets odds to win the series 4-2 or 4-1, worth a shot to hit a large payday at a minimal investment.
Another solid wager to consider is the series spread. Currently, the spread is 2.5 games. You can bet the Nuggets to win over 2.5 games @ +102 or win less than 2.5 games @ -124. Once again, this paints the picture of what oddsmakers think Denver’s chances in the series are.
The Nuggets are coming in hot and with as much confidence as any team could possibly have. The Lakers will be rested and ready to go by Friday night. LA led the season series 3-1.
These teams faced each other once in the bubble, with the Lakers winning on a buzzer-beater by Kyle Kuzma. If memory serves, the Nuggets starters did not play at all in the 4th quarter, while the Lakers had their starters throughout the game.
Bench contributions from the Lakers are hit or miss. The Lakers, on paper, are the bubble’s best defensive team. This has to do with the size and depth of their frontcourt rebounders and rim protectors.
This matchup favors Denver’s backcourt and bench unit. In order for the Nuggets to have a shot, contributions from the bench will be needed in this series. When I say contributions, I’m not alluding to scoring. Bench defense will impact this series, the Nuggets can live with big games from AD and LeBron; the Nuggets can’t live with big games from 2nd tier no-name guys having career nights.
The Nuggets will continue to lean on Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray to be their offensive catalysts in this series. However, both players must be ready to adjust their games. The Lakers are going to throw different looks defensively to combat the Nuggets’ two-man game. The Nuggets outside shooters will need to stay hot and consistent in order for Denver to pull off another upset.
This series is going to be fun to watch with some close games and close finishes. I thought the winner of the Nuggets-Clippers series would go on to win the Western Conference Finals, and I’m sticking with my gut. The Nuggets win the series in 6.
