Waste Management Phoenix Open @ TPC Scottsdale.
Here we are ready for the 2020 Season start shaping into gear. With only 3 months left until the state of Colorado gets ready to dive into legal sports betting it’s a great time to start learning how wager on golf and some strategies that will help you become more profitable in the long run.
One way to bet is by picking the winner. (Not for the faint of heart.) Don’t forget there are usually 140+ players who all start at Even par on day 1.
Tournament Favorites:
John Rahm +650 Justin Thomas +850 Webb Simpson +1200 Rickie Fowler +1600
If you really are feeling lucky on your golfer this type of bet can cash you a huge payday alongside the actual player. I recommend longshots but some tournaments may allow you to “eat the chaulk”.
Pro-Tip
One way to place this type of bet with less risk is taking half of the wager and placing it on a tournament H2H matchup or 3 ball bet. These type of bets will return a fraction of what the tournament winner will but offers a sense of security and usually in the long term a smarter wager to continue building the bankroll.
Remember to monitor the conditions and keep in mind these guys will be playing in at the Stadium Course in Arizona.
H2H Matchup
Justin Thomas -150 vs Webb Simpson +130
JT placed 1st to start the year at the smaller field Tournament of Champions then fell back down to earth with a T82 at the Sony. Webb Simpson on the flip side has played extremely well at The Sony Open where a 4th round 67 secured him a handy 3rd place finish. A handful of top 5’s to end the 2019 season rounded off a career year for Webb.
Not going out on a limb saying Simpson will blow out a very capable JT, I just feel there is a chance for Webb to keep up with JT. Justin Thomas is +850 to win the tournament while Webb Simpson is +1400
Popcorn Matchup
Collin Morikawa -110 vs Sung-Jae Im -110
A virtual coin toss. Do you want the young gun or the trending vet? Collin Morikawa has impressed me with his very capable approach game and putting. He will get my vote here at a feisty Scottsdale Arizona. Collin Morikawa has my attention as he has finished in the top 25 his last 4 weeks. Sung-Jae has also been on a roll collecting a T-3 at the ZOZO and a T10 at the American Express. Im is +3000 to win the tournament while Morikawa is +3300
