Nuggets vs Trail Blazers Game 6 NBA Playoffs Round 2 Betting Preview, Lines, Odds, Spread, Prop Bets & Analysis

Momentum is everything in sports. Having the odds stacked in your favor is an edge anyone would want. In a playoff series that involves division rivals it’s easy to find a quality sample size. The average NBA spectator would assume that because Portland is heading home, they will have a huge advantage in game 6. However, let me remind average Joe that Denver has won 2 of 4 games they’ve played in Portland this season. The two losses included a 3-point loss in quadruple overtime; and the regular season loss (115-108) was a game that Denver rested Millsap, Murray and some guy named Jokic.

Portland is very capable of taking this game and forcing a seventh. Denver isn’t going to give it to them without a fight. For some reason Denver is very comfortable playing at the Moda center and with the momentum the Nuggets built from game 5, tonight’s game is going to be a battle.

In what will be the 10th meeting between these teams, I expect a physical fight. These teams know each other, they know what adjustments to make to gain advantages. There could be blood tonight; there will be a lot of free throws.

Quick Stats to Consider Before Wagers are Made

  • The game total has hit the Over in 4 of 5 games in this series
  • The Over has hit in 12 of the last 17 games (70%) between these teams
  • The Over has hit in 5 of Portland’s last 6 games and in 8 of Denver’s last 11
  • Denver is 10-7 in the last 3 seasons Straight Up vs Portland
  • Portland is 32-9 at home Straight Up (SU)
  • The Over game total is 16-25 for Denver away games
  • The Over game total is 27-21 when Portland is a favorite
  • Portland is 8-16 ATS after a straight up loss in the playoffs under Terry Stotts
  • Under Stotts the Blazers are 1-9 against the 1st half spread in games 5-7 of a playoff series

It’s game 6 in the 2nd round of a physical playoff series. These teams are sick of each other. Unlike other playoff series these teams were only given one day of rest between games. Fatigue will be an issue tonight. The Under has been proven successful in playoff games 6 and 7 due to a lot of these factors.  Expect a game with a slower pace. A game where rebounding; especially offensively will led physical plays. Free throws will matter. Turnovers could cost a team their season.

The Plays

The Over has been paying off in this series and I can’t argue will someone going in that direction. I am leaning towards the Under 214.5. To me this type of game screams slow and methodical play. I think this game ends up close at the end and if the spread moves a little more, I like Denver at +4 if not I’ll wait until a game 7 for better odds.

The Props

In a game this deep into a series a casino odds maker gets to know the players and rotations a lot better. These are the only two advantages I like tonight. Will Barton Over 9.5points. Barton has struggled but his minutes are still there; he’s found a little rhythm and in a game in Portland where he started his career, I fully expect at least 10 points out of him. Millsap Over 1.5 assists. Paul Millsap has been a pivotal player in this series. He touches the ball too many times a night to not luck box into 2 assists.
